Privacy Policy

ClearBooks (“the App”) is a personal bookkeeping application that allows you to record and review your own transactions. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address
  • A unique user identifier (UID) generated by Firebase Authentication

1.2 Transaction Data

When you use ClearBooks, we store the information you choose to enter, such as:

  • Location name
  • Unit name (e.g., product or item name)
  • Amount and unit type (e.g., grams)
  • Total cost
  • Timestamps associated with the transaction

All data is stored in Google Cloud Firestore (a service provided by Google Firebase).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your data to:

  • Provide and maintain the ClearBooks app
  • Allow you to view, edit, and export your own transaction history
  • Improve functionality and reliability of the app

We do not sell your personal data.

3. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in Firebase (Google Cloud Firestore) and protected by Firebase Security Rules. Access to your data from within the app is restricted to your authenticated account, and administrative access is limited to the app owner for maintenance and support.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

You can delete your account and data from within the app via: Settings → Account → Delete account and data.

When you delete your account:

  • Your authentication account in Firebase Authentication is deleted.
  • Your user profile document (if any) is deleted.
  • Your transactions stored under your user ID are deleted.

5. Third-Party Services

ClearBooks uses the following third-party services:

  • Firebase Authentication (for sign-in)
  • Cloud Firestore (for data storage)

These services are provided by Google LLC and are subject to their own privacy policies.

6. Children’s Privacy

ClearBooks is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your region, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your data. Most actions (including deletion) can be performed directly in the app, or you can contact us.

9. Changes to This Policy
